My new adventure, friend, thought, inspiration, passion, love and life and the reason why I don’t have time to blog recently…

I like to travel alone but when it comes to dinner it always feels a little strange to go to a restaurant on my own. So I was glad to come across The Parlour Dinners, a series of events that take place in Berlin Mitte. Laurin told me that he doesn’t call himself a professional cook but the food, the atmosphere the whole evening was even better than in most of the “real” restaurants. I enjoyed being a guest and to experience how other people create their pop-up Dinners like I do my TAVOLATA.
I especially like the Idea that Laurin combines his cooking project with a friend who does handmade furniture – so the showroom becomes a restaurant and vice versa.
Their claim: the project is a homage to quality food, dining culture and unique handmade wooden furniture, is definitely true!
Behind these Ochs&Junior watches is a lot more to discover as you might expect. I had the chance to do the first TAVOLATA&Ochs in the new concept store and I’m truly amazed by the space and it’s atmosphere… and of course the freshly brewed Black&Blaze espresso made perfectly by Beat! I’m so looking forward to all the upcoming moments at Zürichstrasse 49 and I’m glad that Bea catches them in her beautiful pictures.

A weekend in beautiful exterior by nature and wonderful interior by Martin Hauser www.moebelhalle.ch
The Design Museum was built in the middle of the industrial suburb of Holon five Kilometers south of Tel Aviv and was opened in 2010. The Architect Ron Arad was born in Tel Aviv and has now a design and architecture studio based in London. He created a structure of huge strips of weathered Corten steel in a colour palette from bright orange to rusty brown. The facade is reminiscent of a large spring spiral shape and is in a strong contrast with the surrounding monotonous apartment blocks. The design of the whole Museum uses the tension between an efficient arrangement of inner boxlike rooms and the dynamic outer shell with wave-like forms which are wrapped around the gallery space.
I liked the relation of the exterior and interior, the play of structural, spatial and visual experiences while walking around in the building.
The Day starts with a Caffe at Tazza D’oro right next to the Villa Vilina Apartment in the beautiful Neighborhood Neve Tzedek. Neve Tzedek means “Oasis of Justice” and is the first Jewish neighborhood of Tel Aviv, founded in 1887, 22 years before the city of Tel Aviv was founded. From there a short walk brings you to old Jaffa with the Fleamarket and some really nice shops of young Israeli Designers. For Lunch or Drinks there are several Restaurants like La Charcuterie, the Puua Cafe or the best Humus at Abu-Hassan. To continue the day I suggest a walk along the beach to the DAN Hotel for an Apéro in a relaxed atmosphere with a great view. The city offers a lot of different quarters and moments, it is such a young city you really feel the moment of growth but the contrasts are big and the ideas seem very differing. The Cultural life is diverse and rich – we had the chance to meet Kamila an amazing singer and to see the Batsheva one of the worlds best dance companies at the Suzanne Dellal Centre.
In the evening the old Port is a nice place to enjoy dinner with a romantic sunset at the Container an open space for Art, Music and good Food. For a late night meal after some Arak shots, Wolfnights is the place to go…
There are many things to see besides Tel Aviv like the Desert and Dead Sea, Jerusalem or the Design Museum in Holon which is really worth a trip!
Thanks for a wonderful start into 2012.
Thanks to Creative Mornings I had the chance to listen to Fabian Pfortmüller talking about the project Holstee. In a very sympathetic talk he explained how it all began with the idea to produce T-Shirts with a special holster-positioned pocket, this has led to the Name Holstee (holster tee) and prompted the friends to quit their jobs. The first thing Holstee’s three founders -Mike, Fabian and Dave- then did was sit together and write down what they wanted from life and how to create a company that breathes their passion into the world. It was a reminder of what they live for. The result became known as the Holstee Manifesto. Since then they work, produce, spread and live this lifestyle.
It sounds simple. logical. obvious. the right thing. I hope I find the courage to do so too.
