Miami started with an unbelievable Apéro at The Raleigh. Free food & drinks in an nice atmosphere- no need so say more… My little art tour actually started already in NY with a visit of the New Museum and the MoMA, where I took some of the pics. The ART Basel Miami was very impressive but actually it seems, that I was rather people watching than I had the completion of looking at the pieces. And there where many people and a lot of art everywhere. It is kind of a family affair to be a Stones fan. How lucky we where, that there was a photo exhibition with previously undisclosed tour photos of the Beatles and the Rolling Stones at the Betsy Hotel. There was also a lot going on at the Design District ; different spaces and ateliers showed their work and outside performances. Like our friends from the Ping-Pong Gallery in Basel who had a pop-up gallery. There I fell in love with two pictures. And then, another night with art, music and free drinks.
Miami is fun during these special days but besides that I didn’t took that many impressions home. But as soon as I got home I bought myself the two pieces from Sue Irion – as a nice memory and a good start for my collection.
It’s some weeks since I was in NY but anyway my thoughts are there and I would like to share some impressions and places.
Staying in Williamsburg was a great choice especially at this nice “chic, clean, peaceful” Airbnb Apartment. The neighborhood is lively and full of bars and restaurants, like my long time favorite Marlow&Sons or the newer Hotel Delmano right next to the stylish Wythe Hotel. There are Oysters everywhere at Bedford Avenue at the Maison Premiere or in the East Village in the new opened Leadbelly the latest Restaurant of the Silkstone Crew. There are so many, too many things to see. So maybe there will be a NY13… but before that there was some ART in Miami and will be some time in India!
Good to be back on track…
